My good friend from college, Cathy, loves all thing Disney and wanted to go as the latest character to Dragoncon. In 2012 Brave came out, so she decided to be the medieval Scottish heroine, Merida DunBroch.

In the spirit of my love for historical clothes, I designed the ensemble so it went on together like the real Merida's would have... layers and all laces- no buttons or zips!

I made a green kirtle (over dress) with a lace front, tie on sleeves, and a lace up back that was hand grommeted.  

 

For underneath, I made a linen chemise (long shirt) to protect her skin, and to pull out at the right points for volume at the shoulders and elbows and ruffles at the neckline and wrists.
